This winter the Shoppe is giving our Queen for a Day bathroom a do-over and we thought we’d turn the transformation into a little guessing game contest! The fixtures will be replaced along with an entire new theme, paint, wall and window décor!

The Contest:

Beginning Wed., February 1^st through February 29^th, we will be changing something in the bathroom each week. You will be guessing what the overall theme will end up being with your name going into a random drawing each time you guess. Play as often as you are in the Shoppe taking a class, shopping, cropping or clubbing, but one guess per visit!

Stencil Time with Crafter’s Workshop: For the next 3 months explore the basics of stenciling using different mediums. Create 3 amazing cards with stenciled backgrounds and artistic accents. The Crafter's Workshop stencil products are a family-owned, independent manufacturer & distributor of some very cool templates and stencils. They started as a small paper arts shop in 1997, selling lovely papers, fine art supplies and all sorts of delicious things. One day in 1998, they realized that the only thing missing was a great assortment of unique templates. And Voila! The Crafter's Workshop templates & stencils were born! NEW CLASS ANNOUNCED!

Gypsy for the Cricut - Sunday, Dec. 11th - 12:30-3:30pm with Diane $15
Come and learn how to use your Gypsy! You'll learn the basics as well as advanced features of this wonderful accessory for your Cricut. The Gypsy is a powerful design tool that will help you make the most of all your cartridges.

What to Bring to Class: Your Gypsy and its power cord, cartridge link cable, link cable to Cricut, your Cricut machine, its power cord, mat and paper (any will do). Also, if you have never linked a cartridge to your Gypsy, bring one or two cartridges to link.

Prior to class, perform the following steps at home:
1) Check the version of your Gypsy software. Power on your Gypsy and then select the Wrench Icon (tool/settings). On the bottom left of the screen you should see Version 1.4 (0211:0231).

2) If this is not the version you see, then you must go to http://www.cricut.com/cricutsync/ and download the Cricutsynch software to your computer. After its installed, link your Gypsy to your computer via the USB, turn the Gypsy on and from your computer, run the cricutsynch software, follow the on-screen instructions. Warning, this may take awhile, it may even feel like the synch stopped. Be patient, you don't have to watch it, just check on it every 15-30 minutes. If your synch goes quickly, don't fear, it just means you had less to update.

3) Link your Gypsy to your Cricut. You should have a cord like a USB that fits into the back of your Cricut and to the top of your Gypsy. Power both devices on your Cricut, may pull updates from your Gypsy, if this happens, just follow the instructions and be patient. If no updates occur, don't worry, your Cricut didn't need them!

Update on the MacArthur Elementary School flooding.

My friend Sue and her peers at MacArthur Elementary School would like to thank everyone for your generous gifts of school supplies and gift certificates. The teachers and students from the Pre K – 6th grade school were relocated to three different vacant schools throughout Binghamton. Sue’s first grade class ended up at a Catholic school that stood vacant for eight years. The staff had four days to dust, mop, clean windows, and disinfect bathrooms and desks. Sue said people from the neighborhood came to help the teachers. The exhaustion level was as high as the flood was! Then the teachers had to figure out a plan of action so the students could get back to learning less than two weeks after the flood. Mind you they had to borrow lesson plans and books. The school district’s print shop was running 24/seven. I spent the weekend helping Sue laminate and trim the lessons first graders use. The school was unable to save anything because of sewage and petroleum that had seeped into every nook and cranny. Eight years of collecting and organizing a first grade curriculum was lost for Sue. One teacher Sue works with is going to retire after this school year so you can imagine her frustration. Many children were scared to see their flooded school. Sue said for that school is their haven, their safe place for care and comfort. Once again we want to thank you all for your gifts. Sincerely, Sue Stearns and Kathy Greenia

Weekly holiday themes are as follows: Ornamentation, Gifties, Packaging, and Table Dressing. Projects are paper crafted using store products, our stash, re-cycled and re-purposed items from around the house, flea markets and good will finds. Class Registration Policy:

All classes require pre-payment with credit card or personal check. The payment cannot be transferred to another class if cannot attend. Table Time

If you and your friends are interested in cropping for an afternoon or would love to get together to create cards, call the store to reserve our tables for an afternoon!! The cost is $5.00 per person. Reservations are a must and it is on a first come first serve basis. Table time is offered during store hours only and if there are no classes being held that day. You may also bring in your own food and beverages that you are responsible for organizing.

My long time friend Sue has once again lost the entire contents of her first grade classroom along with the many other teachers at MacArthur Elementary in downtown Binghamton. The school library was also lost to the flood. So excited to tell you Melissa Frances 5th Avenue papers, sticker books, diecuts, pom pom fringe, crepe papers, and tissue garland are in! If you love vintage you’ll simply have to have everything within this collection. Card samples are already on display. Stay tuned for upcoming classes next quarter!

Two new paper lines are also in from FabScraps called Vintage Baby and High Tea! Vintage Baby is so sweet with soft pinks and blues while High Tea uses lots of purples! You’ll want to add both collections to your personal inventory as they will be fabulous to work with.

More Basic Grey Oxford arrived which is a great line to work with for the males in our lives.

Also in this week are accessories such as seasonal brads, embossing powders and embossing pads.

The girls have been busy re-arranging things in the Shoppe to keep it all fresh and interesting for us! Stop in and check everything out.

The Athleta Iron Girl event series includes 14 events nationwide. The event included running, swimming, biking, walking, triathlon and duathlon. Let me tell you these ladies and stamp and scrap for hours too!

In this class you will learn all types of techniques with distress ink. It's a mini Ranger class using Hero Arts, My Favorite Things, and Ranger. You can't resist distress but you can distress resist and you'll learn that too. This class is one that I took with Jen McGuire who is so talented and informative! I have so much to show you and will have a group of techniques you can re-create at home! We will create technique hearts for you to put on a 12x12 sheet of paper for display in your home or as a guide to refer to again and again.

Cricut Club is a place to learn all the basics and functions of your Cricuit machines and so much more, like a Cartridge Club! Join us on Thursday, August 4th at 6:30 pm for our Intro Meeting! We have customers say that it looks like we have less stamps but in reality the packaging has changed. Most new red rubber stamps are cling and the packaging is very much like acrylic stamps. We have lots of new images in both wood and cling by Hero Arts. Unity, Penny Black and Memory Box. We also have Memory Box's new dies.
Our new newsletter for July/August/September will be full of new classes and a return to our Color of the Month Sale. Coming soon will be Graphic 45's Alice in Wonderland and new B-line's cling stamps. Remember too that every month we get new monthly programs from Great Impressions and Memory Box.

Spring Fling Re-Mix – May 7th! If you missed Spring Fling 2011 or just want more fabulous all occasion card ideas, you’ll love our Spring Fling re-mix event! We take the best of Spring Fling 2011 and mix it up among the instructors. The stamps each instructor used will be passed to the left and a new instructor will create cards with them! Our focus is CAS cards to give you fast and creative ideas for your all occasion card lists. Six cards per class with envelopes. Class fee $20 each or take all three for $50! This is a brown bag lunch event!

You need to pre-pay for your kit (no exceptions) only $5 per kit. Please indicate a time session when calling the Shoppe to reserve and pay for a kit. Get a group of friends together and have a grand time creating cards with the newest stamps from the Spring Retailers Show in Boston.
4 Session Blocks: 10:30-11:30, 11:30-12:30, 1:00-2:00, 2:00-3:00. The Shoppe will be full of new items from Winter CHA and the Boston Trade Show. Stop in and check out all that is new. Three $5 gift cards drawn every hour 11 until 3, so even if you don’t wish to make the cards you’ll still have a chance to WIN!!! You may bring your own adhesive if you prefer not to use glue stick. Garage Sale – June 4th! Our annual garage sale is taking place Saturday, June 4th from 10:00am -3:00pm at SST! We are taking reservations for anyone interested in selling their stamp or scrap goods. Clubs, Classes and Crops
Class Registration Policy:
All classes require pre-payment with credit card or personal check. The payment cannot be transferred to another class if cannot attend. Pre-payment helps our instructors to prepare kits and materials needed to conduct the class. You are also required to bring your own basic kit which consists of: scissors, adhesives, glue, ruler, pencil, trimmer.

Table Time
If you and your friends are interested in cropping for an afternoon or would love to get together to create cards, call the store to reserve our tables for an afternoon!! The cost is $5.00 per person. Reservations are a must and it is on a first come first serve basis. Table time is offered during store hours only and if there are no classes being held that day. You may also bring in your own food and beverages-which you are responsible for organizing.

We're starting an exciting new programs for all of you Memory Box paper and stamp collectors out there. For those of you who can't get enough colors of paper (is that even possible?), we will be doing limited runs of special colors each month in our notecard line. (folded cards and matching A-2 envelopes)
For this special program, we have a display card of the special colors. First up, for March, is a color we are calling Seedling - a beautiful green color.
We also have memory box's Project of the month, Go to the blog to see the new papers, stamps and more! Clubs, Classes and Crops
Class Registration Policy:
All classes require pre-payment with credit card or personal check. The payment cannot be transferred to another class if cannot attend. Pre-payment helps our instructors to prepare kits and materials needed to conduct the class. You are also required to bring your own basic kit which consists of: scissors, adhesives, glue, ruler, pencil, trimmer.

Table Time
If you and your friends are interested in cropping for an afternoon or would love to get together to create cards, call the store to reserve our tables for an afternoon!! The cost is $5.00 per person. Reservations are a must and it is on a first come first serve basis. Table time is offered during store hours only and if there are no classes being held that day. You may also bring in your own food and beverages-which you are responsible for organizing.

Kathy & Friends Crop Friday Morning: 9:30-11am, $10
Or, Weekend Crop EVERY Sunday: 1-3:00 pm, $10
A great time to learn, share and have fun. Open to all levels! All materials supplied to create a layout featured for that day! Look for special guest crop instructors-announced in the weekly newsletter! Please bring your photos and a basic kit!

Paper Crafted Recipe Exchange Club $5 Join us as we share our favorite epicurean adventures! Each month we will meet to exchange recipes and have an optional taste testing! The recipe cards must be artfully stamped or paper crafted. At the last meeting of the year, we will create a decorative cover and spiral bind the recipes together. Additional details and format of the club will be discussed at our first meeting. If you can't make a meeting, drop your recipes off at the store. Recipe cards and optional creative kit add-ons will be provide at each meeting. Please call the Shoppe to sign up.
Club meets first Saturday of every month from 12:00 noon - 1pm.

Classic Book Club $10
If you love to read, if you love altering books, if you love keeping journals, AND if you love tea, this is the CLUB for you! Inspired by the new American Crafts classics paper line, we have developed a one-of-a-kind book club designed to appeal to anyone who has a desire to read the classics, loves altering books, mini books, journals, and creating individual pages. Our journey will be inspired by whatever book we are reading that month. Here are the details: Each month we will have a book assignment to read. You can take it out at the library, listen to a book on tape, and as a last resort, watch a movie. Bring a basic kit to club and a favorite cup for some delicious tea and scones from Tealightful Treasures!
Club meets 2nd Sunday of every month from 1-3 pm. Jan. 9th, Feb. 13th, Mar. 13th
First book assignment: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott due Feb. 13th

This group meets the 4th Wednesday of every month @ 6:30. Bring basic kit and 2 cards to trade. In addition to our regular card projects, we are donating a card to OWH! Please call and reserve your spot if planning to attend! Fee: $10

Clean and Simple Card Club
Build your supply of quick, clean and simple cards. You will complete 3 cards per class. Fee is $10 per club. This club meets 1:00 – 2:30pm Wednesdays.

Inspiration Diary Workshop

(NEED to be toner copies to work).

Mug, jar or other item to fill with water to clean brush
Apron (strongly recommended)
Favorite stamps (optional)

India ink and dip pen or fountain pen (optional – most pens will not

• black India ink - recommend: Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bombay India Inks
• large spray bottle (to spray water for drippage)

• rubbing alcohol (cleans the pen nib between uses)

Garden Sprite Apron Workshop

NOTE: This project is totally customizable and you can choose to bring your

How lucky are we that we get to have Donna Downey come to our store? Our little store in the middle of central NY?
I think it's pretty amazing! She is such an inspiring artist, we feel so honored to have her share her amazing talents with us! I guarantee you'll walk away with a different perspective and a whole new attitude on how you create. It's hard to explain until you have experienced it yourself. It is worth every minute of your time and you won't regret attending her classes.

I love the texture, colors and free flowing style of her page. She shares how she created this look with her online tutorial. She posts this every Wednesday and it makes you want to jump up and go create something!

Techniques include: painted backgrounds, "drippage", use of different mediums, image transfer, building in layers, dementional effects, and journaling techniques.

A Muse A Palooza Classes!

Hello friends!
We are focusing on our class segment for A Muse A Palooza and even though we can't share the stamp images just yet-we wanted to entice you with some of the elements used in the upcoming classes. I guarantee there will be lots of glitter, decorative punches, unique techniques and lots of prizes involved in each class. Not to mention yummy treats and fabulous projects too!

**Here is a photo of lucious Prima flowers that are glittered and colored in many hues of red. These will be used in a class or two.... Not to mention the gorgeous sparkle of the A Muse cardstock in fun colors for the holiday season.

Holiday Organizational Box

On Friday,July 23, the owner of Memory Box Stamps will be traveling across the country from Seattle teaching at 19 stamps store and we are one of them!!!
The class will be held in the afternoon, most likely 1-3pm and 4-6pm. The cost of each class is $40. I have signed up already because I'm so curious to see how he achieves such beautiful results. Stay tuned.

Memory Box Colored Pencils, 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Come and learn about color, blending and shading while using Memory Box images and papers. Each student will make 5 cards using colored pencil techniques that will make you color like a pro. We'll put color to work in analogous and complementary colors schemes to really make your greeting cards stand out!

Memory Box Watercolor, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
This fun class teaches watercolor through watercolor paints and watercolor pencils. Learn the advantages of each watercolor media and get some helpful tips for applying watercolor to greeting cards. Try out different types of watercolor paper while learning washes and blending techniques. Each student will create 5 cards in an informative and supportive teaching style.

Weekend in Review

Our weekend of fun has concluded at the Shoppe, but just want to report little snipits of what went on (in case you missed it!). At Sherry's 2nd Copic Club of the year in the technique class they learned how to color with interest. As Sherry reported, while you can plain 'ole color with Copics, the part that makes it interesting is when you combine blending, color layering and lighting. The focus was on lighting from the front, side, top and bottom. All the class participants were "totally" getting it by the time the hour had passed!

Next, Sherry's Colorbox technique class was to learn about Koh I Noor pencils and how they react with Colorbox ink. Coloring techniques with Prismacolor and Gamsol, as well as three special card folds were taught. Everyone's favorite was the Sympathy card.

Onto Sunday with Lyn's newly revised "Tin" Luggage Ensemble and mini Bind-It-All book class. We covered a lot in 2-1/2 hours! Literally, we covered the hinged tin inside and out, we covered our mini book pages and then decorated the pages once they were bound with the O-wires. Everyone had good laughs over me struggling to remember how to operate my Bind-It-All. Thankfully, I practiced on scrap papers before I ruined anyone's book...well, there was that one page of Barb's I wrecked, but that was quickly fixed with new.

FRIDAY SNIPS

Yay! The weekend is here and there’s lots happening at the Shoppe starting today with Kathy & Friends morning Crop at 9:30 am. She’s created a LO with Jenni Bowlin papers (my personal fav!). Wonder what goody Judy baked? It's a Never Ending Chocolate Cake!

Saturday is a-buzzin’ with Sherry’s Copic Club (remember, anyone can jump into this quarterly technique session) at 11:00 a.m. and then another technique class Colorbox and Beyond at 12:30 p.m. If you love Colorbox Chalk Inks and regular Colorbox inks, find out how to mix them with Prisma Color Pencils to make really poppin’ images!

Sunday is Webster’s Pages Lullabye Lane Luggage Ensemble with Lyn at 1:00 p.m. Another Lynnie’s Mini class where you’ll learn all sorts of sweet assemblage techniques. If you haven’t used your Bind-It-All in awhile, this is a great refresher class.

Even if you’re not signed up for a class, stop in and let us help you in your creative quest this weekend! Check out Thrifty Time with new consignment items (stamps!). If you love glitter (who doesn’t), we have new 2-1/2” glitter letters in silver, acqua, pink, red and gold at 25 cents each that are going fast!

Saturday Snips

When I was a little girl, I used to love cutting paper of any kind and could spend hours in my little world of paper and paper dolls. I had a small table set up in the dining room at my grandma’s house and I remember she always said to me, “Pick up your snips!” Hence, snips are quickie posts about our paper art world called Stampin’ & Scrappin’ Time.

Yesterday, I stopped by to say hi to Kathy and Friends at her Friday morning crop. If you are a scrapbooker and haven’t attended her crop, you need to check it out in person! The group size ranges from 12 people on up and everyone just loves being there to see what layout Kathy has designed for them to replicate. Her layout yesterday was a lovely vintage cottage chic design with many sweet elements. Everyone was gaga over her page and I could hear their comments about how lovely it was and how they couldn’t wait to get started on it. Almost made me want to sit down and scrapbook (but as many of you know, 12x12 scares me!) So, what are you doing every Friday morning? I think you need to find out what you’re missing! Oh, and did I tell you there’s always a yummy baked goody from our wonderful Judy B?

Need a quick Mother’s Day idea? It can’t get any easier than a gift certificate from the Shoppe! Just call up and tell them the denomination you want, they’ll put it on your charge and all that’s left is to pick it up or we’ll mail it. CAS Group, AccuCut Room & New Samples!

Just wanted to post about a few things beginning with Sherry’s CAS Group on Wednesday. What a terrific trio of cards were created! They all had a similar fold but each one was totally different! While you’re at the Shoppe, go see what Cathy Welch did to the AccuCut room! It is totally transformed into a diecut dream area! All the dies are displayed and/or stacked to easily locate what you need, the sample binders are within an easy reach, and it’s nice and roomy in there too! Thanks Cathy for your ability to make order out of chaos!

New samples are on display from cards, to a quick Mother’s Day gifty idea for mailing those bulky 3d cards, to a sweet hanging mobile of diecut butterflies as seen in Paper Crafts Magazine, May/June issue. How we celebrated National Scrapbook Day

What a terrific time we had at the Shoppe in celebration of National Scrapbook Day!
Events began with Lyn over at Paper Arts Club on Wednesday night. Four fabulous cards were created using fresh and new papers. Six door prizes were a special highlight just for this event.

Next, Kathy’s Friday morning crop kicked off the Shoppe’s new monthly paper line, 72 & Sunny from We R Memory Keepers. 12 people made a summer page as well as an additional card from the scraps! Robert Redford was there in the form of a cake made by Judy B!

A special Friday night crop was celebrated from 5:00 pm until 12:30 a.m.! It was a fun evening where people dropped in and out during that time to work on their own projects.

Saturday was a huge turnout of people for the Wine & Cheese event hosted by our Shoppe owner, Annabelle Wratten. Customers made five Hero cards for $5 designed by Annabelle. It was a fun time for our customers to meet our owner!

On Sunday Sherry hosted an A muse Ami event, pampered stamper style with fresh strawberries the size of apples, fruit tarts and cute little cupcakes. Fabulous projects were made to give or they were great to keep! Sherry is doing another A muse Ami event this July during A muse A Palooza! Kathy was also teaching high tech Hero cards on the other side of the classroom – always a customer favorite!

Whew! We gave our absolute best to National Scrapbook Day! Thank you all for joining us this past week. We will be scrap-crafting 3-4 cards working with scrapbook papers and embellishments from the card maker's viewpoint. Special door prizes! The evening starts at 6:30pm. Fee: $10. A muse Ami (An Artful friend) Sunday, May 2nd 11:00-2:00pm.
Back by popular demand, this project class is inspired by Cupcakes! In this class you will make not 1 or 2 but 3 projects for you to give as gifts or reproduce and sell. You will also receive A muse products in including the frosted cupcake stamp, 4 packages of pearls or bling and epoxy stickers. The projects are birthday themed. You will be making a portfolio of cards, a birthday magnet tin, and a mini perpetual calendar in a tin. Please bring micro tip scissors, 3 types of adhesive, liquid, glue dots and your favorite tape runner or double stick tape, 1/16” hole punch and your smile. This class would cost $80.00 if you took the classes individually and received a little product in each class. You’re sure to have a lively and fun time! And yes there will be cupcakes to eat too! Don’t miss it! Limit of 8.

Hello!!
Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! We had a great time at Spring Fling--we just love seeing the regulars and meeting new attendees. Everyone had fun and we promise to share photos soon!

In the meantime-we had some updates and announcements to share.

This week Cari Fennell is hosting Friday Crop!
We are going to change things up a bit and create two layouts for $20.00 on Friday. Lots of Prima goodies in this crop! It starts at 9:30 sharp-please be on time! Bring your basic tool kit including favorite adhesives. No glue sticks please.

Cricut 101--$15
This class will get you started with your new machines and help you get familiar with all of the amazing features it has to offer. This class will be mostly hands on learning and practice. Bring your Cricut machine, cutting mat and new blade. Also bring a Cricut Cartridge of your choice.

We will make an amazing assortment of fun cards using the new Kioshi Paper line by Basic Grey.

Kathy Greenia and Hero Art's super artist, Jennifer McGuire. She has attended Jennifer's classes for 8 years. and remembers the first time Jen taught for Hero Arts and Autumn Leaves.
Look for Kathy's classes and experience what she learned for Jennifer. Lots of new Hero Art's stamps coming!

Cari Fennel's famous Prima flower crown that has traveled from Syracuse to CHA California and then to Germany. The crown adorned many a heads for photo ops. Hail to the Queen!

Our one and only Sherry Czarnecki having fun with Nikki Silvas and her husband. Look for Nikki Silvas Design Team member, Jen Matott's classes at S&S Time. We have the entire line coming.

Store owner AnnaBelle Wrattan, her son Will and Tim Holtz. Will has taken classes from Tim for four years and attended Ranger U in New Jersey with Tim. Will is off to college soon for art and clothing design. Tim has been his role model and I can see why, he is a great artist, teacher and fun person. We have big things planned for Ranger & Tim Holtz products.

Hello friends!!!
Hope you are all gearing up for a creative weekend...get out those papers and stamps you've been meaning to use to create something beautiful! And if you are stuck in a creative rut-stop by the store to see some awesome new products we just got in...
We have been very busy at the store getting ready for Spring Fling! Putting together the goodie bags, making name tags, putting the finishing touches on our event and we are getting excited to see everyone.

Resist technique class with Gretchen Pearson-$18

Scanning and photographing this technique does not do justice to all the layers and the subtlety of the stampings and inks. Using resist inks on glossy card stock, and then applying dye inks to make the resisted areas show is a technique that has been around a long time. I will show you how to apply those dye inks and additional stamping to give it depth and movement."

Mica inks class with Gretchen Pearson-$20

From one piece of black glossy card stock with blobs of ink to three cards, using mica reinkers, a brayer, and a few stamps. This technique, developed by Judy Watanabe of Judi-Kins, and elaborated by me, produces a number of cards of varying designs from one ink palette, created with mica inks on glossy card stock. Learn which ones work best for different designs, and find a new use for the reinkers that you no longer use.

Friday's Crop - Mosaic Mentality

The mosaic technique is an obsessive way of using strip of decorative papers you've not thrown away all these years. It's also a way of reusing birthday and Christmas cards, calendars, and wall paper samples that were too pretty to throw out. There are no rules, nor is there one correct way to assemble them, all you need are your papers, some double-stick sheets and some time for fun.

The paper is cut into strips of varying widths and laid down around a photo or central image, interspersed with Mizuhiki. One can even use tiny glass beads or metallic flakes in place of some of the paper strips.

Please bring to class a photo (3.5" x 4.5"), scissors, craft knife paper trimmer and metal ruler. We will provide the paper, double-stick sheets, and Mizuhiki paper cords.

Please arrive on time at 9:30am.
